Hayat Finans proved that a digital participation bank could work in Turkey, and it did so the way a challenger should: by publishing numbers the incumbents would not. Founded by Hayat Holding, the industrial group behind Hayat Kimya and Kastamonu Entegre, with 1.5 billion lira in paid-in capital, it received its BDDK establishment permit in April 2022, its operating license on 23 March 2023, and went live on 7 August 2023. Three years on, it runs about 365 staff from Altunizade, Istanbul, no branches, and holds the sector's best printed deposit numbers on two fronts.

The 70/30 FX split: the number that embarrasses the sector

Foreign currency participation accounts are quietly terrible across Turkish banking: depositors keep 40 percent of pool profit at Kuveyt Turk and 30 percent at Ziraat Katilim, both printed, and unprinted elsewhere. Hayat Finans prints 70/30 in the depositor's favor for USD and EUR at all tenors, the best published foreign-currency split in the sector by a wide margin. If you hold hard currency and want it in a participation structure at all, this is the only printed offer that makes the case respectable. The standard TL table prints 90/10 at 1 to 3 months; we flag honestly that at our crawl two site versions disagreed on long tenors, one showing 90/10 and one 87/13 from 6 months. Get the current table in the app before committing long money.

Avantajli Hesap: the 99 percent tier, with strings

The Avantajli Hesap opens at a 99 percent depositor profit share, the highest advertised split in Turkish banking, for balances of 50,000 to 2 million lira at tenors from 32 days. The strings: 99 percent is the Altin tier, maintained by active app engagement; lapse and you step down to Gumus at 95 or Bronz at 90. The tier structure was revised on 12 May 2026, which is a reminder that engagement-conditioned pricing can be restructured under you. Even the Bronz floor of 90 percent matches Ziraat's flat grid, so the downside is contained, but savers who want unconditional terms should weigh Vakif Katilim's 98/2 digital split, which carries no activity conditions. Standard accounts open from 1,000 lira or 250 dollars or euros.

What Hayat Finans deliberately does not do

There is no home financing and no vehicle financing on the retail shelf, by design. Retail credit is limited to Bana Bunu Al, a QR-based needs financing line to 50,000 lira over up to 18 months with a printed zero arrangement fee, plus an education financing system. There is no cash network: funding is transfer-only, which TOM Bank solves with A101 stores and Hayat does not attempt. And we found no gold participation product page at our review, despite a precious-metals withholding table in the tariff. A household needing property or car finance must pair Hayat with a branch bank; our home financing and car financing comparisons cover the options.

The two-bank setup that makes Hayat shine

  • Keep your daily account and cash needs at a branch bank or at TOM Bank with its A101 network; fund Hayat by transfer, which is free.
  • Route foreign currency savings to Hayat's 70/30 accounts; no other bank prints a split worth holding FX in a participation structure for.
  • Put committed TL into the Avantajli Hesap at the longest tenor you can hold, and keep the app active: the difference between the 99 and 90 percent tiers is real money at scale.
  • Use Bana Bunu Al instead of card revolving for needs purchases under 50,000 lira; the printed zero arrangement fee makes it one of the cheapest halal credit lines in the sector.
  • Screenshot the ratio table at every opening. Printed tables can be revised, and your dated screenshot is the record of what you signed up against.

Governance: the regulator turned chairman

The Advisory Committee is chaired by Dr. Mustafa Dereci, who previously ran the Participation Banking Department at the BDDK itself, alongside Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tabakoglu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynelabidin Hayat. A committee chaired by the person who used to supervise the whole sector is an unusually strong governance signal for a three-year-old bank. The account's information form also states the mudarabah terms with rare bluntness: the customer, as capital provider, bears 100 percent of losses; the bank loses its labor. That is classical mudarabah stated plainly, and we would rather see it printed than paraphrased away.

Verdict

Hayat Finans earns an A for bank accounts in our Halal Money Index, and the recommendation is clean: this is the best savings destination in Turkish participation banking for FX holders and for engaged TL savers who will keep the app active. The zero-fee tariff and printed tables make it the easiest bank in the sector to verify. Its structural limits are equally clean: no cash, no property, no cars, no gold. Use it as the yield engine in a two-bank setup, pair it with a branch bank or TOM's cash rails for the physical world, and check the current ratio table in-app before every long-tenor commitment. Compare all nine banks on our bank accounts page.

Quick Answer
